Apple has already released the first MacBook equipped with a new processor and
the M2 chipset from its Apple Silicon portfolio. The company's range of Mac products
will soon include the M2 series CPUs.
According to reports, the Cupertino-based technology behemoth will begin mass
producing the new chipset-powered Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro
16-inch versions in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to a recent report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the business would continue
to use its 5nm chip rather than TSMC’s 3nm chipset. This deviates from earlier
rumors that stated the TSMC 3nm technology would be used to produce the M2 Pro
and Max.
The M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs were used in the Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch and
MacBook Pro 16-inch models, which were released last year. So, we anticipate the
M2 Pro and M2 Max processors to power the laptop's next upgrade.
Regardless, it’s practically a given that TSMC will soon begin producing new
processors for Apple using the 3nm process; it’s just a matter of time until we find out
which MacBook gadget will be the first to use the 3nm chips.
MacBook Pro M2 14-inch and 16-inch Design
We would be surprised to see any design modifications, given that this is a second-
generation standard upgrade to the completely redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch
MacBook Pros.
Be prepared for the same metal unibody design, flat, functional look, generously
proportioned trackpad, and roomy keyboard. As you can see from our review of the
MacBook Pro 14, it's a beautiful redesign of the prosumer laptop we adore.
However, seeing the Midnight color appear on the MacBook Pros would be fantastic
if we could just dare to dream a little. To prevent a second “scuffgate” Apple must
focus on making the paint much more scratch-resistant.
MacBook Pro M2 14-inch and 16-inch Display
The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros currently have an extremely excellent mini-
LED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is fantastic for professional jobs and all
your entertainment needs.
It’s a terrific technology that, we believe, will endure for a few more years in its
current form. You shouldn’t anticipate new screens, save from possible peak
brightness enhancements.
Face ID is the one significant distinction that might be included here. According to
conflicting reports, either Face ID for Mac is in development or unnecessary because
Touch ID on the keyboard is more convenient.
MacBook Pro M2 14-inch and 16-inch Specs
The main event will be the switch to M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. As part of some
leaked testing, Mark Gurman revealed some information regarding these chips, and
it is clear that the emphasis is on graphics performance.
The upcoming pro-tier M2 chips, code-named J414, are expected to have up to 12
CPU cores and 38 graphics cores, which is a significant improvement over the
current 10 CPU cores and 32 graphics cores MacBook Pros.
The chips appear to handle up to 64GB of RAM, and as there have been no
speculations or leaks regarding onboard storage, it is reasonable to presume that
they will remain the same (from 512GB to 8TB SSDs).
